NZ TRAVEL TIPS: Passport, Visas and Insurances etc.... When visiting new zealand a passport valid for three months beyond the intended date of leaving the country is necessary for citizens of most countries. We recommend you visit the New Zealand Immigration website for further information. No vaccination certificates are required to enter New Zealand. We highly recommend arranging travel insurance that includes accidents. While the NZ Accident Compensation Scheme covers visitors for personal injuries caused by accident, this does not include loss of earnings outside of New Zealand.

Apex offers two level of insurance. Standard Insurance and Full Insurance. These terms are fully explained below.

standard insurance

All cars hired by Apex include Standard Insurance for no extra charge. Standard Insurance has an insurance excess (or deductible) of $1,000. This means that in the event that the rental vehicle is damaged, you are liable for the first $1000 of any damage, irregardless of whether you are 'at fault' or not.

full insurance

With any of our vehicles you can upgrade from Standard Insurance to Full Insurnace for an additional $10/day for hires four days or more, (and for an additional $15/day for hires three days or less). Full Insurance reduces your insurance excess (deductible) from $1000 to zero. This means that in the event that the rental vehicle is damaged you pay nothing, provided you have not voided the insurance cover.
